The Boeing 747 also known as the Jumbo jet is a wide bodied airliner and often used for cargo. It first came to service in 1970 and has revolutionised air travel. It has allowed large amounts of passengers to fly far around the world. Its bulging upper deck has made it one of the most recognisable aircraft around. The 747 can seat up to 550 passengers but that doesn't stop its four Rolls Royce engines powering I up to 570mph or 920kmh. There have been around 1450 delivered and the 747 has a range of 13450km.

Deliveries began for the new 747-8 in 2011. It is a quieter, bigger and more fuel efficient than the 747-400. There have been a total of 112 orders for both cargo and passenger with 58 delivered.
