It can be quite daunting stepping on to a plane
which is about to shoot up into the sky at hundreds of miles an hour and we’ve
all hears stories about how all pilots do is press a button or anybody can open
the door in flight but how much of that is actually
true? Pteromerhanophobia also known as fear of flying is having a fear of
being in an aircraft during flight. As air travel is becoming harder to avoid
the issues of fear of flying are more important.
The Autopilot is an aid which can fly at the
altitude, direction and speed that the pilot chooses. This means that pilots
don’t have to keep their hands on the controls all the time. While the plane is
in flight the pilot regularly checks the systems to make sure that the
autopilot is doing its job. Though the autopilot is used in nearly all
commercial flights less than 1 percent of the landings are done using the
autopilot. Also it would be impossible for even the strongest man to open the
door in flight the pressure is pushing the door in.
Its true flying is the safest form of transport and
even safer that walking. You have got more chance of dying from being stung by
a bee or a coconut falling on you’re head than flying. Also, statistically if
you flew every day it would take you 15000 years before you were in a fatal
accident.
